Marvel Comics makes history with a gay X-Men marriage.Marvel Comics’ Astonishing X-Men is set to experience a new sound effect on top of its booms, whams, and sknits: the bong of wedding bells. Specifically, it’s the wedding bells of Marvel’s first gay marriage between longtime X-Man Northstar and his civilian boyfriend, Kyle. After pairing up the couple in 2009, Marvel is officially tying their knot in June’s Astonishing X-Men #51.(x)

YAY!!! I can’t wait!!! <3

Suffice it to say, this is a LONG way from having Jean-Paul abruptly declare his orientation in Alpha Flight #106 twenty-odd years ago.

I like how DC is making it a big deal that they are finally going to have ONE gay character. Marvel’s been gaying up their universe for decades and it rules. I also thought northstar was married a long time ago but party time regardless.

Uncanny X-Force is an X-Men fans dream. Amazing art, the first story arch takes place through the first 18 issues and is fucking incredible. I’m so glad I started reading this because it’s the best X-book I’ve read since grant morrison or Joss Whedon wrote their X-Men books.

I have read 150ish comics in the past week.

I’m finally caught up with the Marvel Universe (616 marvel, I’m still somewhat lost with the Ultimate line post-ultimatum). I thought “Fear Itself” as an event was somewhat lacking, and although there were some great moments, Cap holding mjolnir being my favorite, I was still let down. I do however really like the current run of Uncanny X-Men and Secret Avengers, and AvX is quite entertaining.

Daredevil and Uncanny X-Force are my next two to take on.

I’m still 6 issues behind on the new 52 “Batman” and “Detective Comics”, but those are next on my list.

Feels good to be ready for SDCC this year.
